MTBC Celebrates its First Annual Compliance Week to Promote Importance of HIPAA
Regulations
Somerset, NJ – July 27, 2011. This past May, MTBC held its first Compliance Week
event. The event was created with the purpose of educating employees with regard
to the importance of being compliant with the rules and regulations set up by the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Following this set
of protocols has always been considered paramount amongst MTBC’s workforce, and
this event served as an exemplification of just that.
The event provided employees with more than just essential information. Games and
entertainment were also a big part of Compliance Week. Sudoku contests, crosswords,
quizzes, and numerous other activities arranged by the compliance team were enthusiastically
enjoyed by employees. A daily radio show on the company’s internal broadcast system
ran throughout the week, showcasing interviews with senior staff members who spoke
about the importance of compliance. On-air contests were also held with a total
of 22 employees winning various prizes.
The motto coined for this year’s event was “Compliance Week - Lighting the Way”.
General Counsel Christine Salimbene said: “The purpose of such an event is to educate
MTBC employees about the importance of maintaining the highest standards of ethical
behavior within the company, with our clients and within the healthcare industry
at large. Highlighting different compliance topics throughout an entire week gives
MTBC employees the opportunity to focus on how each department, and each individual
employee, contributes to creating and maintaining a culture of compliance within
the organization.”
