MTBC Offers Meaningful Use Coaches to Guide You to Your Bonus

Under the HITECH Act, the government is offering incentive bonuses of up to $44,000 to healthcare providers who “meaningfully use” EHR technology.  They have gone to great lengths to define the concept of “meaningful use” and have created numerous requirements for physicians to meet in order to be considered “meaningful users”.

However, for the average provider, keeping up with these constantly changing legislative rules can be incredibly time consuming and even distracting from providing actual healthcare.  As such, MTBC has decided to offer “meaningful use” coaches to users of its EHR software in order to guide healthcare providers to earning the government bonus to which they are entitled.  What’s more, users of MTBC EMR 5.0 will be assigned “meaningful use” coaches completely for free.

As the reporting period for “meaningful use” has already begun, eligible providers who wish to receive the maximum amount of bonuses that they are entitled to must attest to their examples of “meaningful use” right away.  Let MTBC get you your bonus.  Sign up today and receive the “meaningful use” guidance that you need.

ONC Funding for EHR Adoption

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is highly committed to the HITECH Act as it is diligently providing technical support to critical access and rural hospitals for the seamless implementation of EHR systems.

In line with that commitment, the ONC recently provided an additional $12 million in funding to 48 regional extension centers (RECs) to the critical access hospitals (CAHs) and rural hospitals.  This is in addition to the initial $20 million that was provided to these organizations back in September.

The overall purpose of this funding is to enhance the technical support offered by RECs in order to accelerate the switch to electronic health records.  Implemented as part of the Medicare and Medicaid incentive programs, the RECs are dedicated to offering guidance, support, necessary information and technical support to practices in order to facilitate their “meaningful use” of EHR technology.

MTBC Presents Webinar on “Meaningful Use” of EMR Technology

On Thursday, April 29, 2010, MTBC hosted a free webinar on achieving “meaningful use” of certified EMR technology under the current government standards.  The hour-long session was presented by Muhammad Chebli, Vice President of Information Technology for MTBC.  Mr. Chebli provided a practical, comprehensive breakdown of the stimulus incentives currently available to healthcare providers under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  He also demonstrated how a quality EMR can be used to obtain the bonuses offered under ARRA.

The webinar was well-attended by physicians and practice managers from a wide variety of medical specialties.  A full reproduction of the webinar will be available on MTBC’s website for those who did not hear about it in time or were otherwise unable to attend.

The ARRA Stimulus Incentives

Under ARRA, healthcare providers that can show “meaningful use” of certified EMR technology are eligible to collect government bonuses in excess of $44,000.  Moreover, providers that fail to successfully implement EMRs in their offices will eventually become subject to penalties.  The government has provided a list of 25 different criteria that it will utilize to determine whether a particular practice has achieved “meaningful use.”
