On Friday, May 21, 2010, MTBC hosted a free webinar entitled “10 Things to Consider When Choosing an EMR.” The hour-long information session was presented by Muhammad Chebli, Vice President of Information Technology for MTBC.
With so many products available on the market, choosing and implementing the right EMR is a daunting task for any modern medical practice. Mr. Chebli provided a useful, comprehensive breakdown of what physicians should look for (and look out for) in selecting the EMR that is right for their practice.
The webinar also demonstrated how a quality EMR can be used to earn substantial stimulus bonuses under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Under ARRA, healthcare providers that can show “meaningful use” of certified EMR technology are eligible to collect government bonuses in excess of $44,000. Moreover, providers that fail to successfully implement EMRs in their offices will eventually become subject to penalties. As such, it is more important than ever for healthcare providers to begin the difficult task of selecting an EMR.
The webinar was well-attended by physicians and practice managers from a number of different medical specialties. A full reproduction of the webinar is available on MTBC’s website for any interested healthcare professionals who were unable to attend.
