On Wednesday, July 7, 2010, MTBC hosted a free webinar entitled “7 Ways to Improve Patient Workflow with an EMR.” The hour-long information session was presented by Muhammad Chebli, Vice President of Information Technology for MTBC. Mr. Chebli provided a comprehensive breakdown of the key things physicians should know about using web based electronic medical records effectively to make the best use of its functionality and maximize the workflow in their practices.
The webinar also noted that proper use of a quality EMR can qualify providers for substantial stimulus bonuses under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Under ARRA, healthcare providers that can show “meaningful use” of certified EMR technology are eligible to collect government bonuses in excess of $44,000. Moreover, providers that fail to successfully implement EMRs in their offices will eventually become subject to penalties.
The webinar was well-attended by healthcare providers from a wide variety of medical specialties. Some were just beginning to consider implementing electronic medical records in their practices, while others had already been using an EMR for quite some time. Many were users of MTBC EMR 4.0—MTBC’s free, CCHIT® Certified 2008 Ambulatory EHR.
A full reproduction of the webinar will be available on MTBC’s website for any interested healthcare professionals who were unable to attend.
