On Wednesday, February 9, 2011, MTBC hosted a free webinar entitled “‘Meaningful Use’ Demystified: How to Start Earning Your $44,000+ Bonus Now.” The hour-long information session was presented by Muhammad Chebli, Vice President of Information Technology for MTBC. Mr. Chebli provided a comprehensive, step-by-step breakdown of how to “meaningfully use” EHR technology in order to qualify for the government incentive payments available under the HITECH Act.
Under the Act, healthcare providers that can demonstrate “meaningful use” of certified EHR technology are eligible to collect government bonuses in excess of $44,000 from Medicare or $63,750 from Medicaid. Furthermore, healthcare providers that fail to successfully implement EHRs software in their offices by 2012 will eventually be penalized.
The webinar was well attended by healthcare providers from a variety of medical specialties. Some were just beginning to consider implementing EHRs in their practices, while others had already been using EHRs for some time. Many were users of MTBC EMR 5.0—MTBC’s “Meaningful Use” Certified EHR, which the company provides free of charge for all clients of its 5% billing and practice management solution.
