As of July 1, 2007, providers must begin reporting information regarding certain quality measures (I’ll describe this in greater detail tomorrow). While the official kickoff for reporting activities is still months away, NOW is the time to make certain that you will be ready.
If you are using an EMR, your new reporting responsibilities will probably be quite painless; however, you should certainly contact your EMR vendor and ensure that your EMR is ready for PQRI. If you are not using an EMR, you are probably using a traditional super bill and traditional billing method. If you are using a super bill for patient encounters, you must ensure that you are properly tracking the PQRI quality measures.
Please visit this blog tomorrow for the critical PQRI ‘how’ details.
