Final Rule on "Meaningful Use" of Electronic Health Records Well-Received by MTBC
(Somerset, NJ) – July 13, 2010. MTBC, a unique healthcare IT company, welcomed today's
release by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) of the final rule
on what constitutes "meaningful use" of an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
The release of the final rule was well-received by MTBC, as its clients now have
a clearer picture of the requirements they must satisfy in order to earn substantial
incentives under the HITECH Act. The Act, which was implemented as part of the American
Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), provides incentive bonuses in excess
of $44,000 for physicians that are able to show "meaningful use" of certified EHR
technology. Providers that fail to successfully implement EHRs in their offices
will eventually become subject to penalties under the Act.
MTBC continues to work closely with its clients to assist in the implementation
of its proprietary EHR—MTBC EMR 4.0—and to ensure that they are using the EHR in
a manner that will qualify them for the bonuses available under the HITECH Act.
The company will also continue to educate its clients and other healthcare professionals
on "meaningful use" through its free, EHR-focused webinar series. The next webinar
in its series will provide a comprehensive overview of the "meaningful use" requirements
as they are defined under the final rule. The webinar will be presented by Muhammad
Chebli, Vice President of Information Technology for MTBC, on Wednesday, July 28,
2010 at 1:00 p.m. Any healthcare professionals interested in attending can register

"MTBC understands that many healthcare providers are skeptical about the government
incentives currently offered under the HITECH Act," said Mr. Chebli. "For the most
part, physicians are intimidated by the daunting task of sifting through the myriad
EHRs available on the market and choosing one that will allow them to satisfy the
'meaningful use' requirements. We are committed to providing our clients with not
only a certified EHR solution, but also a high level of personal support to ensure
that they understand how to use MTBC EMR 4.0 to achieve 'meaningful use.'"
